A small church, but a strong one. Now shares clergy w/ St. Thomas.

I am a practicing Catholic since birth. I have received all of my sacraments. I live in Brooklyn, NY. I'm in the Merchant Marine and Naval Reserve, so time at home is very limited. Whenever my ship is in port, I try my best to make it to church, if my work schedule allows. I'm getting married in Vernon, NY summer of 2018. I called this church to ask if I can get married here. My local parish is two hours away, depending on traffic. Having a church wedding is very important to me. I would love to get married in my parish, but unfortunately it simply will not work out with distance, travel time, and wanting our family and friends there for the most important part of my wedding. I'm very disgusted and disappointed to say that the priest refuses to marry us... I thought you'd be happy that we want religion to be in our lives and our future children's lives. I thought you'd accept us with open arms and be happy that we want to get married in your church. I thought religion was supposed to be accepting of all and love all. I'm so distract since you simply said, "No, it's not going to happen here." (With no explanation, apology, or good luck...) that now I am completely reevaluating my religion, if I want to have a church ceremony, and if I want religion in my life. Thank you Father for a horrible, life changing phone conversation. You broke my heart and my faith.

That is terrible, regarding last review below. I no longer live in the area. Years ago, it was very different with Monsenior Steve. He was loving accepting. I have fond memories of him and parish.
